Oxnard Shores picks up a south swell bigger and better than other locations in Ventura County. During the summer - fall south swells mix with a slight NW swell that results in a series of hollow A-frame bowls along the entire beach. Surfing is best a low or medium-low tides. When the tide is high the waves are under 5 feet back down because the sandbar is narrow. For the person who likes to sail visit Oxnard Harbor. There are nice places near by to grab a bit to eat like the Whale's Tail Restaurant for a fancy meal to other places near by for great sea food.
